 PEUGEOT U-Select
PEUGEOT’s patented u’Select is not a grinding mechanism, but mills equipped with it allow the user to adjust the grind of their pepper or salt mill quickly, easily and accurately. By simply turning the outer ring at the base of the mill, u’Select allows the grind to be adjusted to any level between powdery fine and very coarse.
While all u’Select mills work equally well, there are a couple of minor differences that can be observed between models: some u’Select rings are marked with vertical lines, while others are marked with a wedge; and some models have a smooth operation as the grind is adjusted, while others “click” as the ring is adjusted into a pre-set notch. These differences do not affect the operation of either model.

Line or wedge markings – how to read them
The number of lines or the width of the wedge corresponds to coarseness and fineness of grind. A single line or the narrowest point on the wedge indicates powdery-fine pepper or salt, while six lines or the widest point on the wedge identifies coarse salt or cracked pepper. To set the mill, simply align the marks on the ring with the single mark on the mill body, found immediately above the ring. |

Smooth versus click adjustments
As noted, some u’Select models “click” into a pre-set notch, while others have a smooth operation, but there is no difference in functionality, range of grind or product quality between the two types. When using a “click” type mill, it is important to remember that the ring does not have to be in a clicked position to work – the click is merely an easy point of reference. |
