PEUGEOT produced its first grinding mechanisms in 1842, with the introduction of their first coffee mill. Largely the same design today as it was then, that mechanism was the basis for PEUGEOT’s famous pepper mechanism, first unveiled in 1874 and now the industry standard.
PEUGEOT Mills: kitchen tools, not gadgets
PEUGEOT mechanisms are finely-crafted kitchen tools and as such, are specialized in their function. There are currently six different spice-specific mechanisms and one coffee mechanism offered by PEUGEOT, each designed to deliver optimal grind results, from consistency of grind size to maximizing the flavors and aromas.

All PEUGEOT wine accessories carry a 2-year warranty, limited* to manufacturing and materials defect. This warranty has an extended term for the following products:

Optimal use
To obtain the best results from any PEUGEOT mill, the mechanism should always be turned in a clockwise direction, never back and forth, and never counter-clockwise, as this direction forces product out of the grinding mechanism and causes inconsistent grinding results.

PEUGEOT has a very strict policy concerning their mills: only the most appropriate materials will be used for each type of mechanism; and for each type of mechanism, it will be the same for all PEUGEOT mills.
In other words, if two PEUGEOT pepper mechanisms are compared, even if they are at vastly different price points, the grinding mechanism in each will be the same.
