For more than a century, the PEUGEOT name has been synonymous with French gourmet cooking, but the French are also renowned for another gastronomic experience: wine. In the recent past, an opportunity arose for PEUGEOT to lend its name to a family of wine products and, in turn, bring its penchant for quality and innovation to this side of the gourmet experience.
In 2006, PEUGEOT acquired a well-known French producer and distributor of some of the finest wine accessories available anywhere. Among the products offered: a wide range of corkscrews; specialized wine decanters; service accessories; and tasting glasses, highlighted by the legendary “Les Impitoyables” line of glasses. |

Since then, PEUGEOT has been utilizing its design talents to develop new products for this market. Among the first introduced: the Elis rechargeable electric corkscrew, inspired by a combination of the Elis pepper and salt mills and the double spindle corkscrews made popular in the early 19th century. |

Very young red wines - those under 3 years of age - are considered immature and require intensive breathing to awaken them. Intensive breathing, via the act of aeration, forces the wine to be rapidly exposed to oxygen and turns the wines molecules. This develops the wines flavors and aromas, and smoothes the harsh tannins that are so often present in young reds.
